Toast them in a pan? Microwave? Oven? With oil? Hot skillet? Cold Skillet? What is actually THE BEST METHOD?
We here at Home Cook FAQ have burned our share of nuts on the stove top! It can work, but this is the best way to get the best toasted nuts without forgetting about them and burning them…
Toast nuts in the Oven.
You should just throw them on a sheet pan and toast them dry. Preheat your oven at 375 degrees. Don’t put them in until the oven is ready or it will throw you off.
Set your timer for 3 minutes. Take them out and toss. Put them back in. Repeat!
It is going to take 8-12 minutes. Do this until they are golden and smelling amazing!
When they are done, be sure to remove them from the sheet pan or they will continue to cook on the hot pan.
Are you still wondering why you should even bother? Toasting nuts intensifies their flavor and it crisps up the outsides. It changes everything!!!
And you are also thinking…”aren’t the store-bought nuts already toasted”? Well, here’s the thing: if you buy them in the baking section, they may already be toasted if they are not labeled as “RAW”. But once you start buying raw nuts (cheaper by the way) and toast them yourself, you will never go back. Freshly toasted nuts added to your recipes will make everyone wonder what you did different this time!
We get right to the point here at Home Cook FAQ…so you can get back to cooking! Happy NUT TOASTING!
