Well honestly, we are not veggie fans. And if you are asking “What is the best way to eat brussels sprouts?” then we assume you are, like us, trying to figure out a way to eat more vegetables!
So, with that said, there will be no talk of “healthy” ways to eat them like boiling and steaming. Isn’t that how our mother’s cooked veggies and is the WHOLE REASON WHY WE HATE THEM?!!
Okay, so there is one thing that brussels sprouts must have to find some tolerable and even desirable flavor, is carmelization. And there are three ways we suggest to acheive it.
- Fry them! Oh blessed yummy dinner! We experienced this in a restaurant where they are so tasty they serve them as an appetizer with a side of house-made mustard sauce. So okay, maybe the Airfryer might be something to try for calorie reduction. We wouldn’t know, but you can try it!
- Bake them! Toss them with your oil of choice and some seasonings and bake with the sliced side down until browned. Toss and bake a bit more.
- Bust out your Cast Iron pan! Cast Iron is just lovely for making a nice carmelized finish on veggies and meat!
We actually like to keep our large cast iron pan on the stove top at all times. It’s hefty so putting it away is a waste when we can find a way to use it every day!
If you need one, we suggest a nice basic Lodge Brand 12″ Skillet. If you can’t bear to look at a black metal pan sitting on your stove, get one with style you can get this Tramontina one in Cobalt or Red…and it has a lid!
We hope this helps you try brussels sprouts. Now we don’t do guarantees on if you will like them, but we are pretty sure these ideas are your only hope!
